Paolo Petrobelli works with simple and sensuous shapes, combining a sophisticated understanding of color to reveal a new approach to lighting.
Training as a microbiologiest, Petrobelli decided to leave the medical field for design. Petrobelli creates glassworks as functional objects such as floor or table lamps, suspensions, tableware and vessels using her strong collaborative network of Murano glassmakers.
Petrobelli’s pieces have been commissioned for prestigious projects in the United Kingdom and Italy, often connected to major artists of the contemporary art world.
Paolo Petrobelli has displayed at Gallery Libby Sellers in London (24, London 2013), the Italian Gallery Nilufar (Unlimited 2012) and the French gallery Perimeter Art and Design (Paola Petrobelli: Verre Contemporain London, 2009)(Inside Out, London Design Festival 2010)(Officina Insetto et Autres Histoires,2011).
