Hans Harald Rath

Hans Harald Rath

Famous for his striking interpretations in the design of crystal chandeliers, Hans Harald Rath assumed control of Austrian brand J &L Lobmeyr in the late thirties.  He was the fourth generation family member to manage the company, now known as Lobmeyr.

His quest to produce unrivalled chandelier design took him as far as New York’s Metropolitan Opera.  Rath worked closely with Wallace K. Harrison, the architect of the opera house.

Rath’s starburst designs evoke a celestial theme that were greeted by an ovation when first revealed in 1966.  His designs continue to inspire and remain everlasting pieces to complement the most refined interior spaces.
